Description
American Pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) is a well known plant that grows throughout North America. Considered a weed, it is hated by many for its intruding nature.
The entire plant is considered toxic and contains oxalic acid and a saponin called phytolaccotoxin. However, despite its toxicity, pokeweed has been used as sacred medicine by the indigenous communities for centuries.
When prepared and used properly, pokeweed is known to be an extremely effective and powerful medicine.
Pokeweed is said to help the following conditions
• sore throat
• mastitis
• bone pain due to syphilis
• diphtheria
• tonsilitis
• rheumatoid arthritis
• rashes
• gastrointestinal disorders
• infections
• fibroids
• eczema
• acne
• boils
• enlarged thyroid
• cancers
Pokeweed is said to be excellent for supporting stubborn congested lymph when all other herbal remedies fall short and is considered one of the most powerful lymphatic cleansing herbs on the planet.
An oil made from the roots is often used topically to dissolve lumps, bumps, fibroids, mastitis or alleviate sore lymph nodes.
Our Pokeweed Castor Oil is made using wildcrafted Phytolacca americana from our organic food forest and is slowly solar infused, in a combination of organic oils, ensuring to preserve every medicinal quality.
