Description
The use of copper as a medicinal mineral is found in nearly all the ancient medical texts around the world. In fact, the oldest recorded medical use of copper comes from an ancient Egyptian medical text circa 2200 B.C. describing the use of copper to sterilise drinking water and treat wounds for infection.
Ancient Ayurvedic texts claim that drinking water from a copper vessel cures the three doshas of the body namely, Vata, Pitha, & Kapha by positively charging the water. Water stored in a copper vessel for 6-8 eight hours was known as Tamra Jal. This practice is extremely important in Ayurveda and is believed to be the key to longevity and good health.
When water is stored in copper, small amounts of copper ions gently dissolve in the water. The result: naturally purified water, that clarifies the body.
BENEFITS OF COPPER INFUSED WATER
Studies have shown that copper is anti-bacterial, supports good health, prevents aging, supports healthy skin, helps maintain cardiovascular health, supports the thyroid, and stimulates the brain.
When consumed daily or every other day, it is believed that copper infused water can fight off sickness, prevent illness and disease, and improve over health and wellness.
Copper, like Iron, is an essential trace mineral necessary for survival. It is found in all body tissues and plays a role in making red blood cells, helping the body absorb iron, maintaining nerve cells, and boosting the immune system.
Copper deficiency can cause serious health issues and since our body does not synthesize copper, we need to include it in our diet. Copper infused water is a natural way to give your system its daily copper requirement.

Suggested Use
• Fill the bottle with water and store it in a cool dry place over for 6-8 hours. Do not refrigerate the bottle.
• The best time to drink this water is on an empty stomach in the morning.
• Do not overdo it. Once a day is more than enough to provide the necessary amount of copper to your body. We recommend an every other day rotation of drinking copper infused water.
• ONLY store water in a copper vessel. Anything acidic will react with the copper, causing corrosion and the creation of toxic salts that cannot be digested.
• Take breaks. For example, take a 30 day break after regularly drinking water stored in a copper bottle for two months. This allows the body to flush out the excess copper.
Copper is a reactive metal and it’s therefore to be expected that the bottle will change color over time. This oxidisation is a natural process known as “patina” and usually means your bottle will transform into a darker shade or sometimes turn a slightly green colour. Another result of patina is small black dots or lines developing on the surface of the bottle. Do not drink out of a tarnished bottle. Any patina should be removed before resuming use and proper care should be used to maintain the bottle.
Follow the care instructions that come with the bottle. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbers, as they can damage the copper. Never allow the copper to air-dry. It can result in water stains or tarnish from the reaction of the minerals in the water.
Safety Considerations
Copper toxicity can be extremely harmful to the body. However, copper toxicity is often a result of using corroded copper bottle. Corrosion in copper bottle can happen due to storing foods that are acidic in nature and it also depends on the softness of the water.
The World Health Organization recommends only 0.47 mg of copper for every litre of water and the upper intake should not exceed 10mg per day. To be safe, if you have infused your water for more than 10 hours, do not consume it as it could have possibly crossed the daily recommended intake.
When a copper vessel is unlined, the copper that touches the acidic substance may react and release a large amount of copper salts such as blue vitriol (bluestone), copper sulfate, and verdigris. This can be dangerous, as it may lead to copper toxicity and cause a number of health issues that can even be fatal.
These substances include but are not limited to pickled foods, honey, alcohol, dairy products, or anything citrusy, such as lemon, lime, or orange juice. The rule of thumb is to only store drinking water in copper vessels that have not been lined on the inside.
Although copper in the proper doses is considered safe for most healthy people, if you have prior health concerns, take medication or are pregnant and nursing, speak to your doctor first. View our disclaimer here.
